Artist in Focus: Haresh Dhropal

b. 1981 Gujarat India

Haresh’s work stems from his ideological interpretations of nostalgic elements from his village – not as an allusion to natural exquisitness but in relation to a concept of art materials of small scale insudtries of his village. Copper is one of the materials that he has manipulated in his visual vocabulary along with the art of indigineous weaving that he feels he preserves through his art. These techniques and materials finds unique abstracted expressions in Haresh’s artwork.
